HC Deb 02 November 1937 vol 328 cc701-2
41. Sir John Mellor

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has any information to give as to the possibility of resuming payments to British traders out of the funds in the possession of the Anglo-Spanish clearing office.

Mr. Stanley

After full discussion with the Clearing Offices Advisory Committee, which includes representatives of the various interests concerned, His Majesty's Government have come to the conclusion that on balance it would not be to the advantage of the interests concerned to distribute these funds at the present time.
