HC Deb 01 November 1937 vol 328 c537
48. Mr. R. J. Taylor

asked the Postmaster-General whether it is intended to erect a central post office in Ashington; and, if so, is it intended to purchase the land through an estate agent or by direct purchase from the owner?

Major Tryon

The question of providing a new post office in Ashington is under consideration. The inquiries for a suitable site are in the hands of His Majesty's Office of Works, who act as my advisers and agents in all transactions of this nature. The Office of Works is free to negotiate either through an agent or directly with the owners of property.
