HC Deb 05 May 1937 vol 323 cc1149-50
42. Sir M. Sueter

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he will consider the desirability of setting up a committee to study and report on the question of developing high-speed communications between the centre of London and its terminal airports, the terms of reference to include other large cities and their terminal airports?

Sir P. Sassoon

This matter was recently examined by the Committee on Civil Aviation. In London the problem is already being studied as part of the survey of highway development initiated by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport. While, therefore, sharing my hon. and gallant Friend's view as to the importance of speedy access to terminal airports, I do not think that it would be useful to set up another committee.
