HC Deb 05 May 1937 vol 323 c1158
65. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will consider preparing a scheme to encourage the production of the soya bean as feeding stuff for cattle in this country?

The Minister of Pensions (Mr. Ramsbotham)

I have been asked to reply. No, Sir, experiments in soya bean production in this country have not yielded results sufficiently encouraging to justify the action suggested.

Mr. De la Bère

Does not the Minister think that the real solution to the agricultural problem to-day is a national food production Act like the War-time measure in order to increase home production?

Mr. Ramsbotham

I was under the impression that this question related to the soya bean.
