HC Deb 24 March 1937 vol 321 c2882
34. Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will make a statement concerning the position in Palestine?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

On the general position I would invite the hon. and gallant Member's attention to the last part of the reply which I gave to questions in the House on 17th March. The security situation in the Southern district is reported to be not abnormal. A large number of arrests have been made in the Northern district, and a number of preventive arrests are being made in Jerusalem. The High Commissioner, who arrived back in Palestine last Friday, was touring the disturbed district of Galilee on Monday, and I expect to receive a further report from him very shortly.
