HC Deb 24 March 1937 vol 321 c2895
66. Mr. Hardie

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the inconvenience to travelling public caused by the wages dispute between the S. M. T. and their employés, the Government will consider the nationalisation of road services in Scotland and ensure adequate facilities for the public and fair wages for the employés?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

No, Sir.

Mr. Hardie

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that the wages paid by the Glasgow Corporation is the cause of the trouble, and that it would be in the interests of Scotland to nationalise the road services as well as the roads in order to give justice to these employés?
