HC Deb 24 March 1937 vol 321 cc2901-2
91. Mr. Sutcliffe

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that, in order to relieve the producer retailer, other producers have agreed to an amendment to the Milk Marketing Scheme, fixing the contribution of the former at 1½d. per gallon; and whether he can state when the Government's sanction will be given to this amendment?

The Minister of Pensions (Mr. Ramsbotham)

Objections were made to the draft amendment of the Milk Marketing Scheme to which my hon. Friend refers, and these objections, with others, were recently the subject of a public inquiry. My right hon. Friend has not yet received the report of the Commissioner who held the inquiry, and he is unable to state at present when the amendment, if approved, is likely to become effective.
