HC Deb 23 March 1937 vol 321 cc2726-7
7. Lieut.-Commander Fletcher (for Mr. Garro Jones)

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, with a view to the forthcoming visit of the economic mission from Japan, he will inaugurate discussions with representatives of the cotton and other industries, with a view to the promotion of agreements for each branch of industry concerned between the British exporting interests and the corresponding exporters' association in Japan for the voluntary regulation of exports?

Mr. Runciman

I should welcome agreements of the kind to which the hon. Member refers; but any such proposals are matters for consideration in the first place by the industries concerned.
