HC Deb 16 March 1937 vol 321 c1849
57. Mr. David Adams

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he will give details as to the International Coke Agreement and the names of the countries involved in the same?

Captain Crookshank

I am unable to give details of the agreement, which is a business arrangement between the industrialists concerned. I understand that the agreement is being made between the producers in Great Britain, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Poland.

Mr. Adams

Surely a matter of this momentous importance to the coal-hearing districts ought to be public property, and will the Minister endeavour to obtain the information?

Captain Crookshank

A certain amount of information has already appeared in the Press. I am not one of the parties to the agreement, which is a purely business arrangement.
