HC Deb 11 March 1937 vol 321 cc1341-2
82. Mr. Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made by the Departmental Committee which is investigating the operations of fraudulent vendors of shares?

The President of the Board of Trade (Mr. Runciman)

I understand that the committee has already held 12 meetings, 11 of which have been devoted to the taking of evidence. A number of witnesses have yet to be heard.

Mr. Lewis

Can my right hon. Friend give the House any idea of when he hopes to have the complete report of the committee?

Mr. Runciman

No, I am afraid I could not, but I have no doubt the committee is proceeding as expeditiously as possible.
