§ 74. Colonel Clifton Brownasked the hon. and gallant Member for Rye, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, whether the present area of planted land, both public and private, is greater or less than in 1914, and what is the difference in acreage?
§ Sir G. CourthopeThe present area of planted woodland is undoubtedly less than in 1914, but adequate statistical data do not exist for making a close comparison. It is estimated that the difference is not less than 200,000 acres, and may be considerably greater.
§ Sir G. CourthopeIt could only be taken at considerable expense, and would take a long time. I doubt whether it would serve any useful purpose.
