§ 66. Lord William Scottasked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are being taken to ensure an adequate supply of timber in the event of war; what quantity of home-grown timber will be available; and whether arrangements have been made to ensure that such timber is promply made use of?
§ Dr. BurginThe questions involved in ensuring supplies of timber for essential purposes in the event of war are not being overlooked. Arrangements for the use of home-grown timber are being considered in conjunction with the Forestry Commission, but I am unable to give any estimate of the quantity of timber which is likely to be available from this source.
§ Mr. Orr-EwingIs my hon. Friend taking any steps to see that a census of timber production is taken?
§ Dr. BurginI think that that is rather another question, but I have no reason to believe that the Forestry Commission are not well informed as to home-grown timber.
§ Mr. Orr-EwingIs my hon. Friend aware that there is no census whatever of production in this country?
