§ 18. Mr. Markhamasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is satisfied with the meteorological information and weather forecasts supplied by the Meteorological Office; and whether he contemplates setting up a special naval meteorological department under the Hydrographer to the Navy?
Lord StanleyThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As to the second part, there are technical and operational aspects of meteorological work which are peculiar to the Navy and arrangements are under consideration between the Departments which will make special provision for this.
§ Mr. MarkhamDoes this special provision involve the setting up of a completely new meteorological department under the control of the Navy?
Lord StanleyIt refers to modifications in the organisation which, when they are made, will more suitably meet naval requirements.
