HC Deb 02 March 1937 vol 321 cc174-5
45. Lieut.-Colonel Moore

asked the Lord President of the Council whether it is intended to locate the Coronation seats already reserved for the relatives and friends of Members of Parliament in the immediate vicinity of Westminster?

The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

It is hoped to allocate two seats, on payment, to each Member of Parliament; these seats will be situated in New Palace Yard.

Captain Harold Balfour

If any hon. Member feels that it is not right that his relatives should be, to some extent, a charge on the taxpayer, will the Lord President arrange that he will receive the gift of the difference between the cost of the seat and the charge for the seat?

Mr. MacDonald

Yes, if any hon. Member takes that view, and wishes to pay the full cost of the seat.
