HC Deb 01 March 1937 vol 321 c29
27. Sir Percy Harris (for Mr. Graham White)

asked the Postmaster-General the number of licences for relay exchanges given during 1936; the number of licences not renewed; and the total number at the latest convenient date?

Major Tryon

During the year 1936 one new relay exchange licence was issued and four licences lapsed owing to the closing of the exchanges. The total number of licences in force on 31st December, 1936, was 333. Arrangements are being made for the renewal of these licences for a further period of three years, subject to compliance with certain conditions; and with the addition of one new licence issued since 31st December last the total will be 334.
