HC Deb 29 June 1937 vol 325 cc1795-6
61. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware of dissatisfaction among the Gold Coast police; and whether he will inquire as to the cause?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

I am informed by the Governor that there is no dissatisfaction whatever among the Gold Coast police and that they have never been more contented.

Mr. Sorensen

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that many of the Gold Coast police are complaining about the nature of their uniforms?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

This is the first time either the Gold Coast Government or I have heard that complaint.

Mr. Sorensen

Will the right hon. Gentleman receive information from me if I send it to him?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

Yes. I wish the hon. Member had done so before he put down the question.

Mr. Thorne

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that if these people are contented they are the only people in the world who are contented?
