asked the Postmaster-General what progress is being made with the installation of an automatic telephone exchange in the Clay Cross area and when the work is likely to be complete?

The bulk of the equipment has been installed, and the remaining work is being pressed forward. While it is not yet possible to give a precise date, it is anticipated that the new exchange will be opened in the near future.
