asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the expansion in the British note circulation owing to note hoarding on Continental account, he will reconsider the recent proposal for a material reduction of the securities in the fiduciary issue to be matched by the increase of a similar amount of gold coin and bullion in the Issue Department, together with putting into circulation token golden half-sovereigns matched by the withdrawal of a similar amount of paper ten shilling notes?
