HC Deb 24 June 1937 vol 325 c1377
65. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture, having regard to the question of gluts of fruit in this country which become unprofitable to pick, whether he will consider making a request to the British Broadcasting Corporation that they should broadcast an announcement for help, by informing the general public of the position and stating where supplies could be obtained?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

If my hon. Friend will let me have further particulars of what he has in mind, I shall be glad to consider his suggestion.

Mr. De la Bère

Would it not be possible for the right hon. Gentleman to request the B.B.C. to send out an S.O.S.—"Save our Soil, Seems only Sense, and Seems only Solution," and I agree that he is the real friend of the farmer?
