Gibsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what were the estimated populations of Sweden, Denmark, Holland, and Belgium, respectively, for each of the years 1931 to 1936, inclusive; and whether he has any information as to the average number of persons unemployed in each of these countries for each of these years.
§ Mr. EdenAs the reply to the first part of the question contains a number of figures, I will, with the hon. Member's permission, circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT the population statistics of Belgium for the period required, derived from the official census returns. With regard to the other countries named, I have no official information, but I will give the figures furnished in the "Stateman's Year Book." which may be taken as reasonably accurate. I have no information that would enable me to reply to the second part of the question.
