§ 66. Mr. T. Smithasked the Secretary for Mines to what extent protective equipment in the way of helmets, gloves, etc., is in operation in the various coalfields?
§ Captain CrookshankThe reports for 1936 of the divisional inspectors and of the Safety in Mines Research Board, which will shortly be published, contain a good deal of information showing that satisfactory progress has been made in the various coalfields in the use of protective equipment; hard hats, for example, being bought at a rate of more than 12,000 a month. I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my appreciation of the keenness and co-operation, shown by all sections of the industry, which have enabled a gratifying measure of progress to be attained.
