HC Deb 21 June 1937 vol 325 cc840-1
49. Mr. Shinwell

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has taken any steps to show appreciation of the action of the Dutch Government in extending to Great Britain the advantages as regards freer entry of exports conferred under the recent agreement to the States which initiated the Oslo Agreement?

Mr. Stanley

No opportunity having arisen at the time when the Netherlands Government declared their intention, I am glad to have this opportunity of expressing His Majesty's Government's appreciation both to the Netherlands Government and to the Belgian Government.

Mr. Shinwell

Has that information been conveyed to the Netherlands Government?

Mr. Stanley

I propose to send a copy of this answer to them.

Mr. Bellenger

Does the right hon. Gentleman propose to take advantage of the facilities that have been offered by the Oslo Convention?

Mr. Macquisten

Does this not show how successful our tariff policy has been?
