HC Deb 21 June 1937 vol 325 c849
66. Mr. Gibson

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has had under consideration the large sums of money lost by small investors (including many in Greenock shipyards) who, since the War, have put their savings into shares of industrial companies; and whether he has any statement to make regarding compensation to such shareholders being made a substantive part of any scheme he may make for the taxation of the profits of such industrial companies?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

I am afraid that the matters to which the hon. Member refers are not relevant to the question of taxation of profits.
