HC Deb 17 June 1937 vol 325 c530
13. Rear-Admiral Sir Murray Sueter

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the training centre for cafe and restaurant workers in a south coast holiday town has been closed for want of trainees and that no waitress has yet been obtained for the corporation's new restaurant to be opened on 1st July; will he ascertain whether the shortage of catering workers is in this town due to the alleged sweated conditions; and, if such is not the case and the conditions of employment offered by the corporation are satisfactory, will he transfer and train suitable persons from the special areas?

Mr. E. Brown

I am not aware of any training centre for cafe and restaurant workers in a south coast holiday town having been closed. If my hon. and gallant Friend will give me particulars of the case he has in mind, I will make inquiries.
