Gibson)asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total number of attendants and nurses on the staffs of, or employed at, mental institutions in Scotland as at 31st May, 1937; how many of these individuals had a tour of duty extending to 84 or more hours, 78 and under 84 hours, 72 and under 78 hours, 66 and under 72 hours, 60 and under 66 hours, 54 and under 60 hours, 48 and under 54 hours, 186 42 and under 48 hours, and under 42 hours wer week, respectively; what are the corresponding figures for the Smithston institution in Greenock; and whether lie has any statement to make regarding the introduction of legislation to restrict the working week of such individuals to a maximum of 48 hours?
