HC Deb 14 June 1937 vol 325 c35
65. Dr. Salter

asked the Home Secretary how many members of the Metropolitan Police Force were killed and how many injured by motor vehicles, as pedestrians and as cyclists, respectively, while on duty and while off duty during the year ended 31st December, 1936?

Mr. Lloyd

I regret that information is not available to enable me to answer this question exactly in the form in which it is put, but the records at Scotland Yard show that in 1936, 82 members of the Metropolitan Police Force were placed on the sick list as a result of injuries incurred while regulating traffic, two were killed and 198 were injured while riding cycles (motor and pedal) on duty, and three were killed and 101 injured while riding cycles off duty.
