HC Deb 10 June 1937 vol 324 cc1965-6
73. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the Government in order to obviate delay, are prepared to grant financial assistance to farmers for the purchase of grass-drying plants?

The Minister of Agriculture (Mr. W. S. Morrison)

No, Sir. As I indicated in the course of the Debate on Monday last, I am satisfied that the development of grass-drying is proceeding as rapidly as the state of our present knowledge of the system justifies.

Mr. De la Bère

How does the right hon. Gentleman think these farmers, who are financially destitute, can buy these plants if no financial aid is forthcoming from the Government?

Mr. Speaker

That is a matter of opinion.
