HC Deb 09 June 1937 vol 324 c1763
71. Mr.Craven-Ellis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether His Majesty's Government continue to acknowledge the debt owing to the United States of America for loans made, services rendered, and goods supplied during the great War; and is any provision being made to settle the debt?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to him by my right hon. Friend's predecessor on 29th April last, to which I have nothing to add.

Mr. Davidson

Will that acknowledgement be merely formal, in order that nothing shall be added to the debt?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

That question does not arise out of the original question.
