HC Deb 09 June 1937 vol 324 c1755
45. Mr. Noel-Baker

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence the number of officers and other personnel employed during the year 1936–37 in inspecting the arms supplied to His Majesty's Government by private firms and of the expenditure incurred for this service by the Admiralty, War Office and Air Ministry, respectively?

The Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence (Sir Thomas Inskip)

No separate record is kept of the numbers or cost of personnel employed in inspecting arms supplied by private firms, as distinct from the output of Government factories, nor is there any separate record with regard to the inspection of arms as distinct from technical equipment and stores. I regret, therefore, the information asked for cannot be obtained.
