HC Deb 08 June 1937 vol 324 cc1557-8
3. Mr. White

asked the Secretary of State for War to what extent the cash allowance for messing abroad has been inceased?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

On average the increase would be about 3d. a head for units over 100 strong and more for smaller units.

4. Mr. White

asked the Secretary of State for War whether all stoppages for articles of clothing and equipment which soldiers serving abroad are required to have under the regulations have now ceased?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Initial issues of all special articles of clothing required by soldiers on being sent abroad will in future be free. Personal equipment remains a free issue, as hitherto.
