HC Deb 08 June 1937 vol 324 c1587
57. Mr. Day

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what Government materials or stores have been loaned for use and used in the making of cinematograph films for the 12 months ended to the last convenient date; and how many applications have been refused for similar facilities during the same period?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

I understand that, so far as records at headquarters show, Government materials or stores have been loaned for use in the making of cinematograph films during the last 12 months in rather over 100 cases. In the majority of instances the facilities granted were of a trifling character, for example, the use of telephone instruments, and the listing of the details would involve a disproportionate expenditure of time and labour. So far as my information goes, the answer to the last part of the question is five.

Mr. Day

Was a specially fixed price made for the loan of those materials?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

No, Sir; the charges depend upon the nature of the materials loaned.
