HC Deb 07 June 1937 vol 324 c1405
17. Mr. Day

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department what steps he proposes to take for the purpose of drawing the attention of the British chambers of commerce situated in foreign parts to the question of trade development and the need for better organisation of British salesmanship abroad?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Captain Euan Wallace)

I have been asked to reply. British chambers of commerce abroad are fully alive to the importance of the matters referred to by the hon. Member. They maintain close contact with the Department's representatives overseas in all matters affecting the development of United Kingdom export trade.

Mr. Day

Will the hon. Gentleman suggest to the British chambers that their members should co-operate more in the countries in which they are situated?

Captain Wallace

I will bring that to the notice of my hon. Friend.
