HC Deb 07 June 1937 vol 324 cc1399-400
9. Mr. Moreing

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has received from His Majesty's Ambassador in China the expected report on the recent case in which a British subject, as the result of successive proceedings in the Chinese courts, suffered a loss of $30,000 on the capital sum of $75,000 advanced on mortgage to a Chinese merchant?

Mr. Eden

I understand that there has been some delay as the case in question was not made known by those concerned to His Majesty's Ambassador. He is obtaining further information, and I will communicate with my hon. Friend when I receive it.
