§ 29. Mr. H. G. Williamsasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will arrange to publish as a Parliamentary Paper the report of the Departmental Committee of the Colonial Office on the status of Mandated Territories which sat in 1920 under his chairmanship?
§ Mr. Ormsby-GoreI regret that I have so far been unable to identify the report to which my hon. Friend refers. I must, therefore, ask him to furnish me with further particulars. I should, perhaps, mention that I was not Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies until 1922, and only became the British member of the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League at Geneva in 1921.
§ Mr. WilliamsIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that his authority has been improperly quoted in this matter and that it was alleged he was chairman of such a committee in 1920? It was for that reason I put down the question.
§ Mr. Ormsby-GoreIf the hon. Member will give me the occasion where I have been improperly quoted, I shall be very glad.
