HC Deb 01 June 1937 vol 324 cc852-3
40. Mr. Day

asked the Secretary of State for War whether there is any shortage existing at the present time in the establishment of the officers of the Royal Army Medical Corps; and can he state the reason for same?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

A deficiency of 63 regular Royal Army Medical Corps officers on the present authorised establishment is being made good by 33 temporary commissioned officers, and a number of civilian medical practitioners. The number of candidates presenting themselves continues to improve.

Mr. Day

Can the right hon. Gentleman answer the last part of the question?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I cannot give an authoritative answer upon that.
