HC Deb 01 June 1937 vol 324 c845
35. Mr. De la Bère

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is now in a position to make some statement regarding the storage of food in the event of national emergency?

Mr. Stanley

No, Sir. I regret that I am not able to make a statement on the matter at the present time.

Mr. De la Bère

Is not the right hon. Gentleman aware of the very widespread concern throughout the country that nothing has been done up to this date; and does not he think that it is about time something was done to prevent the possibility of ruin in the event of a national emergency?
