HC Deb 29 July 1937 vol 326 c3281
3. Mr. Benjamin Smith

asked the Minister of Labour whether it is the intention of the Government to adopt the recommendations of the Baillie Report on the Regulation of Wages and Conditions of Service of Road Transport Workers; and, if so, when it is proposed to introduce the necessary legislation?

Mr. E. Brown

The Report of this committee is under active consideration, but I am not yet in a position to make a definite pronouncement with regard to it.

Mr. Smith

Has the right hon. Gentleman any information as to whether it is intended to implement the Report? The House is going into recess for three months, and this is a very urgent matter?

Mr. Brown

It is a very important matter, and as such must be given adequate consideration, because, as the hon. Member knows, it may demand legislation.
