§ Sir S. HoareI would refer the hon. Member to the reply given on 8th July to a question by the hon. Member for North Tottenham (Mr. R. C. Morrison). A conference with representatives of the local authorities and of the fire service was held on the 27th instant to consider the general issues raised, and it was agreed to hold a further conference as soon as the local authorities have completed their inquiries into the extent of the performance of extraneous duties by members of fire brigades.
