HC Deb 28 July 1937 vol 326 cc3086-7
64. Mr. Chorlton

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps are being taken to safeguard the supply of fuel from the Trinidad oil wells, in view of the importance this source of supply has for the Air Force?

Sir A. Lambert Ward

The question of the defence of Trinidad is under consideration, and my right hon. Friend is not in a position to make any statement on the subject at present.

Mr. Chorlton

Can the hon. and gallant Member say whether any special steps are being taken at the present time in connection with the late strike to see whether the terms are being observed?

Sir A. Lambert Ward

I will ask my right hon. Friend.
