HC Deb 27 July 1937 vol 326 cc2835-6
25. Mr. Lyons

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will indicate the amount and allocations of profits from the Royal Tournament, the Aldershot and other tattoos, respectively, for each of the years 1936 and 1937; and who decides the appropriation of profits in each instance?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I will circulate a table for 1936 in the OFFICIAL REPORT. The figures for 1937 are not yet available. In the case of the Royal Tournament, the allocation of the Army share of the profits is made by a committee at the War Office. In fact case of the Aldershot and other tattoos, the allocation of profits is determined by the trustees of the respective Command Trusts.

The table is as follows:

Total net profits in 1936. Amount distributed to charities, etc.
£ s. d. £ s. d.
Royal Tournament 13,409 3 5 13,000 0 0
Aldershot Tattoo… 41,030 11 5 40,633 0 0
Tidworth Tattoo… 13,511 0 0 9,439 0 0
Northern Command Tattoo. 3,178 2 9 2,329 10 9
