Private Bills.

Ordered, That Standing Order 265, relating to Private Bills, be suspended until the Summer Adjournment.

Ordered, That, as regards Private Bills to be returned by the House of Lords with Amendments, such Amendments (if Unopposed) shall be considered on the day following the day on which the Bill shall have been returned from the House of Lords.

Ordered, That, as regards Private Bills returned, or to be returned, by the House of Lords with Amendments, such Amendments (if Opposed) shall be considered at such time as the Chairman of Ways and Means may determine.

Ordered, That, when it is intended to propose any Amendments thereto, a copy of such Amendments shall be deposited in the Committee and Private Bill Office, and notice given on the day on which the Bill shall have been returned from the House of Lords.—[The Chairman of Ways and Means.]

Regents Canal and Dock Company (Grand Junction Canal Purchase) Act, 1928.

Ordered, That the Resolution of the House of the 12th day of July, 1932, relative to the Regents Canal and Dock Company (Grand Junction Canal Purchase) Act, 1928, be read as followeth:

That, notwithstanding the promise given in the proceedings before the Committee to which the Regents Canal and Dock Company (Grand Junction Canal Purchase) Bill was referred in the year 1928, to the effect that the promoters of the Bill would within five years of the date of the Bill becoming law promote a Bill to consolidate the Act relating to the several parts of their undertaking, it shall not be incumbent on the Grand Union Canal Company to promote such a Bill before the expiration of ten years from that date, in view of the fact that since the year 1928 the company have acquired the undertakings of other canal companies, and of the possibility that the undertakings of further canal companies will in the future be acquired by the company.—[The Chairman of Ways and and Means.]

Resolved, That it shall not be incumbent on the Grand Union Canal Company to promote a Bill to consolidate the Acts relating to the several parts of their undertaking before the Session of 1944, provided that not later than the Session of 1941 they promote an amending Bill with a view to facilitating the task of consolidation.—[The Chairman of Ways Means.]
