HC Deb 27 July 1937 vol 326 cc2859-60
70. Mr. Rostron Duckworth

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether investigations are being made to ascertain whether milk bars are patronised mainly by adults or juveniles?

Mr. Ramsbotham

I have been asked to reply. My right hon. Friend is not aware of any investigations into this matter, but it is understood from the Milk Marketing Board, that, in general, milk bars are patronised mainly by adults.

Mr. Duckworth

Will the Minister do his best to increase propaganda which Rhondda Valley; and in view of that large number and the distressed conditions in the Rhondda itself, will he not consider the advisability of doing something for the Rhonddas?

Mr. Brown

The hon. Member will know that the Commissioner has only just received his new powers, and he will use every reasonable effort to attract new industries to that area.

Mr. Mainwaring

Has the Commissioner in fact decided that any new industry must be within the trading estate and not be allowed to go outside?

Mr. Brown

No, Sir. The answer has been given about that several times, and it is not so.
