HC Deb 27 July 1937 vol 326 c2836
28. Mr. Day

asked the Secretary of State for War what inquiries have been made by military authorities in various parts of the country to see how far, in the event of emergency, local civil practitioners can be counted upon to act in a civil capacity at military hospitals in the United Kingdom in place of the Royal Army Medical Corps until such time as they would be relieved by the Royal Army Medical Corps officers?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Lists of medical practitioners willing to serve in the capacity referred to are kept in each Command.

Mr. Day

Can the Minister say whether a great number of letters have gone out?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I do not know how many letters have gone out, but lists are kept of those willing to serve.
