HC Deb 27 July 1937 vol 326 cc2858-9
67. Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will give particulars of what further steps the Government propose to take to counteract the destructive effects of idleness in the distressed areas?

Mr. E. Brown

It is not possible to include within the compass of an answer to a Parliamentary question all that the Government is doing to relieve unemployment. I would refer the hon. Member to statements made in recent Debates.

Mr. Day

Is it the intention of the Government to issue loans for industrial development?

Mr. Brown

That is another question altogether, and it has been referred to several times in Debates.
