HC Deb 21 July 1937 vol 326 c2204
59. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Thomas Moore

asked the Minister of Transport whether, following the success of railway electrification in the South of England, he proposes to take any steps to encourage its further extension to railway services in the more populous parts of Scotland in the near future?

The Minister of Transport (Mr. Burgin)

The responsibility for initiating railway electrification schemes rests with the railway companies.

Brigadier-General Clifton Brown

In view of the numerous accidents to animals caused by the live rail on the Southern railway, will the right hon. Gentleman see that some other method of electrification is adopted here?
