HC Deb 21 July 1937 vol 326 c2186
22. Captain Pluǵǵe

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty when the organisation of the Royal Dockyards in this country and the conditions of service therein were last fully reviewed; and whether he will now consider arranging for a fresh inquiry to be made into this matter with a view to alleviating the various outstanding grievances with regard to such service and to ensuring that they are organised in such a way as to be able to provide full and adequate service in any emergency?

Mr. Cooper

The general organisation of the Royal Dockyards was under independent review as recently as 1926, and the conditions of employment therein may be said to be constantly under review, principally through the Admiralty Industrial Council and the Shipbuilding Trade Joint Council for Government Departments which hold regular meetings for the purpose of discussing service conditions and wages questions. A further general inquiry at the present time is not considered necessary.
