HC Deb 21 July 1937 vol 326 cc2181-2
7. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has received any representations from the Czechoslovakian authorities concerning the misleading Hungarian propaganda circulating in this country against Czechoslovakia; and whether he will make a statement respecting the position of minorities in that country?

Mr. Eden

The answer to the first part of the question is No, Sir. As regards the second part of the question, I would remind the hon. Member that the position of minorities in Czechoslovakia is governed by the Minorities Treaty signed by Czechoslovakia in 1919.

Mr. Sorensen

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that many hon. Members have received, obviously from a Hungarian source, propaganda designed to disintegrate Czechoslovakia, and in view of that, will he take any steps that are possible to inform the Hungarian authorities responsible for this propaganda that their action is mischievous in the extreme and does no credit to the Hungarian people?

Mr. Eden

No, Sir. I did not know about that, but I have every confidence in the judgment of hon. Members who receive the propaganda.

Mr. Sorensen

Will the right hon. Gentleman himself take steps to consider the propaganda that the rest of us receive?
