HC Deb 19 July 1937 vol 326 c1777
44. Mr. R. Gibson

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether in view of the small cost entailed and the great benefit both to the unestablished workers employed in the Royal Naval Torpedo Factory in Greenock and to the Greenock Hospital organisations concerned, he will authorise the deductions to be made from their wages, as desired by these workers, for hospital purposes?

Mr. Cooper

Discussions are at present proceeding which may result in the application of a general scheme of deductions for hospital purposes through some central organisation, and in this connection I should be prepared to give careful consideration to the position of the Greenock factory hospital and local charities fund.

Mr. Gibson

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when a decision will be reached?

Mr. Cooper

I could not say that at present.
