HC Deb 15 July 1937 vol 326 cc1483-4
58. Miss Ward

asked the Minister of Health what progress is being made for the provision of the urgently required houses in Wallsend, Willington Quay, Forest Hall, and other parts of the Parliamentary borough of Wallsend-on-Tyne?

Sir K. Wood

I have sanctioned loans for the erection by the Wallsend Town Council of 537 houses in connection with the council's slum clearance programme. The council have, moreover, a large area of land which it is understood will be sufficient for the remainder of their slum clearance needs and enable them to deal further with overcrowding in the borough.
