65. Lieut.-Colonel Acland-Troyte

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the reason for granting an increase in the maximum of the scale for higher clerical officers in the Civil Service, having regard to the fact that the Treasury has stated that the duties of that grade are in many instances similar to those of the junior clerical officer grade, the maximum of which is only £350 a year; and whether, in the circumstances, he will consider increasing the maximum of the scale of
